As housing prices escalate, it becomes more difficult for working people to afford rent and house payments. As a result, a growing proportion of Floridians are spending more than one-third of their income for housing.

FANM has strongly advocated to eliminate giveaways and sweetheart deals such as Special Area Plans (SAP) for developers that lead to rapid gentrification and displacement of black and brown communities. FANM has also pushed for established rent control to keep minority communities in their neighborhoods.
